What should be noted in particular, however, from Christopher's description of Patchouli Empire is that he HATED patchouli in his time, but eventually discovered that it can be more than the dreadfully pungent scent often mixed with body odor that radiated from the forward-thinkers of the past. It can actually be "astonishingly subtle, rich & beautiful."

My nose also picks up some sort of tea accord often implemented in CB fragrances, which succeeds in adding depth to the heart of the perfume while softening some of the oomph of patchouli. The result is a scent that blends hefty wood notes with a tea background and strong accents of patchouli, turning tradition on its head by reinventing patchouli into a contemporary work of art. Furthermore, thanks to the fact that Patchouli Empire is 100% natural, the fragrance not only evolves beautifully on the skin, but also evolves differently on each different person. Definitely worth a smell!
