Part of Diptyque's cologne series, L'Eau de L'Eau was created as an
homage to L'Eau, Diptyque's first ever fragrance. The idea behind the
colognes offered by Diptyque is that each features a strong citrus
heart and is designed to be accessible to the perfume-unconscious. Not
to say that perfume connoisseurs of the world won't find L'Eau de
L'Eau equally enchanting, but the blend is very pleasant without too
much uncertainty or unusual notes, making it perfect for novice noses.
The fragrance opens with a fresh ray of lemon and grapefruit, given an
herbal touch by lavender. It doesn't take long to start moving towards
the heart of the scent, fixing it's focus on green mandarin. Spices
like cinnamon, clove, and pink pepper shape the blend, though their
notes are much less prominent in this cologne than in it's
predecessor, L'Eau. Getting closer to the base, floral tones of orange
blossom, geranium, and I do believe I smell rose, add subtle and
complimentary character. This scent's lasting power and overall
potency can be largely attributed to its robust base of resin-y
benzoin with tonka bean and a touch of patchouli. Warm and full-bodied
yet perfectly functional all-year long, L'Eau de L'Eau is an excellent
introductory scent to the rest of the Diptyque range.

Made in France
United by a passion for creativity and design, three artisans became friends and partners. They opened a shop at 34 boulevard Saint-Germain to showcase their avant-garde fabric designs and decorative items from their travels. The trio offered colored candles to match their fabrics, adding perfumed wax. Customers fell in love with the inimitable fragrances. Word traveled. Their cachet grew. In 1963, they introduced the first Diptyque scented candle. In 1968, the first line of Diptyque fragrances was launched. Today, the three Parisian artists are world-renowned purveyors of fragrance and scented candles. |
