Tam Dao is a Blackbird Apothecary staple. The perfect scent for the man or woman looking for something warm and musky, yet simple and pure, that never falls into being overwhelming or intrusive. The sandalwood note is by far the most prominent of the woody bouquet arranged here, appearing directly after application. What's so wonderful about this particular sandalwood note, though, is how it changes through the dry-down. Beyond the comfort that Tam Dao conveys with the top notes, around the middle of the scent (which doesn't take long to reach), enters a medley of cypress, Brazilian rosewood, myrtle, and cedar. Around this same time, the dryness of the sandalwood appears, and these woods form together to create the most beautiful crisp accent to the warm, enchanting ambergris and sandalwood base that's a perfect example of precision contrast. Tam Dao is a subtle scent that rather than hiding it's true colors, compiles them so expertly that the blend gently radiates from the skin as if designed as incense for the human body, truly phenomenal.

United by a passion for creativity and design, three artisans became friends and partners. They opened a shop at 34 boulevard Saint-Germain to showcase their avant-garde fabric designs and decorative items from their travels. The trio offered colored candles to match their fabrics, adding perfumed wax. Customers fell in love with the inimitable fragrances. Word traveled. Their cachet grew. In 1963, they introduced the first Diptyque scented candle. In 1968, the first line of Diptyque fragrances was launched.
