Vetiver is a note to which nothing else can be compared. The sublime earthy, woody, and smokey aroma of the roots of the grass vetiver is presented here in Coeur de Vetiver Sacre unlike ever before: as if it had fallen from the heavens and carried with it a sliver of paradise. Immediately the smeller is struck by the complexity of the fragrance, which at its head bears an accord like some kind of powdery citrus fruit, decorated with flowers and tea, before simmering softly into rich, magnificent vetiver. Bergamot and black tea with saffron, date, apricot, rose, iris, and osmanthus create this large, enveloping body, meandering between cool and warm. Tarragon, birch tar, gaiac wood, white cedar, cistus and castoreum lift and accent the dueling notes of vetiver, including Haitian vetiver and a vetiver accord created by the perfume's maker to bring out the nuances of the heart of vetiver. And as if this potent combination alone was not enough, musk, labdanum, tonka bean, and vanilla serve to provide longevity to the fragrance and certainly contribute to the far-reaching and almost cloud-like (but absolutely Not cloying) powder note so apparent throughout the dry-down phases of Coeur de Vetiver Sacre, creating one of the most elegant contrasts in a perfume that we have ever seen. Truly, this is a must-have fragrance.
