Nightscape, Ulrich Lang's most recent fragrance (2009) is intended to be evocative of a city skyline at night. Now we know everyone's got different sensations, smells, and thoughts associated with a city skyline, but the progressive urban vision depicted by Nightscape is one particular imagined memory we're happy to give ourselves over to. Moving past its ties to city images, Nightscape is a modern take on patchouli as described by Lang himself. Though patchouli frequently conjures hippie dreams, here the famous plant comes off nearly metallic, at least slightly plastic, giving this surprising scent a futuristic odor. Joined by a brilliant "sappy green" accord right from the get go, you're awoken to the meaning of sappy and green. As the scent begins to dry down, jasmine and geranium with a touch of cedar begin to emerge, before giving way to a bed of soft leather, musk, amber, and tonka bean sure to comfort you on even the coldest nights out in the city. This is modern masculine perfuming at its best.

Ulrich Lang is a relatively new perfumer with his first scent, Anvers appearing in 2003. Originally located in Germany, Lang felt inclined to transplant to New York where he works currently. Coming from a background in cosmetics, he was well-prepared for work in fragrance when he decided to make the plunge, and his experience shines through
the three scents that we carry. Each Ulrich Lang scent is surprisingly unique, versatile, and striking, with special care given to evoke sentiments of a considered, sophisticated future. His team has thus far been completely successful in their endeavor.
